The data provided here are based on sentencing guidelines worksheets submitted to the Maryland State Commission on Criminal Sentencing Policy (MSCCSP) for sentences in Maryland’s circuit courts for January 1, 1999, through June 30, 2025. The data are limited to guidelines-eligible sentencing events and are not inclusive of all criminal sentencing events. The accuracy and completeness of the sentencing data are dependent on the information entered in each sentencing guidelines worksheet.

To obtain meaningful information from the data download files requires some data manipulation and analysis on the part of the user. Prior to working with the data, users are encouraged to review the file information, as well as the supporting materials provided on the data page of the MSCCSP website, including the description of the source and scope of the data and the data codebook.

After completing the user information form and clicking on Generate Dataset below, users will have the option to download the full data file covering all available sentencing years or partial data files covering five-year periods:

• CY1999 – FY2025 (1/1/1999 – 6/30/2025) (Full Dataset)
• CY1999 – FY2004 (1/1/1999 – 6/30/2004)
• FY2005 – FY2009 (7/1/2004 – 6/30/2009)
• FY2010 – FY2014 (7/1/2009 – 6/30/2014)
• FY2015 – FY2019 (7/1/2014 – 6/30/2019)
• FY2020 – FY2024 (7/1/2019 – 6/30/2024)
• FY2025 – (7/1/2024 – 6/30/2025)
